Shifting Consciousness:

the Secret of Writing from the Deeper Self

Naomi Rose, Book Developer & Creative Midwife

Entering into an inspired place for book writing

often involves shifting away from the usual linear frame of mind and heart

and being open to something that existsprior to the words.

Making this shift in consciousness may be the most valuable thing you can do for your writing, because when the inner environment is in place, you basically have everything you need to ease into yourself and bring forth the infinite treasures that await within.

There are many ways to do this. One is the way of sound.

A primary secret of

the Writing from the Deeper Self approach to book writing

is the ability to shift your consciousness.

To what?

To where?

To the place within where deep guidance, your infallible compass, resides.

Then your experience of writing shifts into gratitude mode; it becomes as simple, as inspired, as natural as breathing.

Writing from the Deeper Self is not about “producing.” It’s about creating an inner atmosphere in which what truly wants to come forth, can.

Making this shift in consciousness may be the most valuable thing you can do for your writing, because when the inner environment is in place, you basically have everything you need to ease into yourself and bring forth the infinite treasures that await within.

There are many ways to do this. And although words may play a part (e.g., inspiring yourself with a poem, an affirmation, a treasured line written by someone else or even you), it’s the nonverbal portals that are more likely to bring you through the door.

One such way is sound. Making your own sound, letting the cadence and breath of sound move through your soul and your body to open up resonances and revelations that your executive-function brain couldn’t think up on its own.

The audio that follows gives you a sonic taste of this. (You might place some paper and a pen nearby in case you’re moved to write something afterwards.) When you’re done, see what’s humming inside you from within. Once you’ve listened to this brief audio of me speaking and sounding, you might be drawn to let a sound flow through your being and hum inside you from within. And if you feel so moved, write what comes.

Shifting consciousness through sound, by Naomi Rose

Much of your book writing can be accomplished in this way. Not, perhaps, the bones of the book, the structure [for that, you can use my book, An Organic Way to Structure Your Book: An Alternative to Outlines (Workbook Included)] — but the nervous system that connects and runs through your book can be sounded into form through you.

Sound offers just one of many ways of shifting consciousness that can flow you into writing a book from your heart — a book that speaks to you and your readers.
