your authentic self awaits to tell you things. . .

Writing in Shared Solitude

A 12-Week Online Sacred Writing Space

Where You Can Bring Your Light onto the Page

with NAOMI ROSE

The Co-Writing Sanctuary

offers the opportunity to truly be with yourself

in a listening, attentive way

so that what wants to be known to and through you

now can be known.

But sometimes it can be difficult to come by real solitude.

It’s not only the need for uninterrupted time and space. It’s also the ability to let the usual mind-concerns go for the time being, and to bring your concentration inward, wholly and receptively. Because who knows what is waiting in the wings of your true being to whisper itself to you, once there is a space to hear?

The Co-Writing Sanctuary is an opportunity for you to discover what wants to be known in and through yur writing, and to fully give yourself to the process. And in this way, to bring you light into the world.

The Co-Writing Sanctuary is designed to provide you with this sacred space and time, without your having to do anything other than just show up with interest and an available heart. (And paper & pen or laptop at the ready.)

Ours is a time when your light is truly needed. As mythologist Michael Meade puts it:

“It wasn’t that creation happened no one can figure out how long ago and now we’re living in the aftermath.  Creation is happening all the time. . . . And so our job as artists is . . . to allow that energy of creation to come through us as a vessel, of trying to bring light from darkness or light into darkness.”

Something in you is wanting to be known through your writing. Come and allow a protected space in which to find out what that is, and be blessed by its beauty (which, of course, is also yours). What a beautiful gift to give yourself – this place where you can come just as you are and connect with the inspiration that’s ready to reveal itself.

What a relief to be able to simply be with yourself from the privacy of your own physical space (perhaps a lit candle and a cup of herbal tea at your side). Knowing that all you have to do right now is receive what is given from within you, you can just pick up your pen or put your hands on your keyboard, and let the words flow forth through this open channel of connection – with yourself, with the other participants (all with you in silence), and with the creative field itself.

Can you imagine giving yourself this permission, this inner listening, this comfort with creating? This beautiful stream of light?

For 12 (plus) weeks, you’ll get to encounter your deeper Self through this protected writing space.

You can come with an existing project or just see what emerges onto the page. We gather as a sacred group in silence (the participants’ silent presence speaking louder than spoken words). Each week, I provide you with an inspiring introduction into the realm of consciousness where your inspiration waits. The sacred field vibrates for you. Then you write while I “hold the space.” At the end, I narrate a satisfying Closure ritual so you can honor what you’ve written (and that you’ve written) and be able to continue your writing at home between Sanctuary sessions.

Here's what’s in store for you:

You have options.

Once a week for three months (12 weeks plus), we’ll meet online for an hour and a half. This will give you time and space to be with yourself deeply, in the company of other participants, in silence.

There are three parts to the Sanctuary:

A writing or meditation exercise titled 'An Opening Invitation to Shift Consciousness' with a watercolor pink flower illustration at the top left corner.
  1. AN OPENING INVITATION TO SHIFT CONSCIOUSNESS:

  • Guided meditation / artistic inspiration

  • Different weekly themes provide a rich array of entry points (recordings make these available to return to and cultivate on your own between sessions)

  • Gentle transition into your own internal creative space

A page of text titled 'Sacred Writing Time' with a faded watercolor-like image of a flower in the top left corner.

2. SACRED WRITING TIME:

  • Uninterrupted deep writing time lets your inner wisdom flow forth

  • Complete privacy of deep, refreshing solitude

  • Sacred space that’s held for you activates that field to open in you

Text about closing ritual in a written document with a faded pink flower illustration in the upper left corner.

3. CLOSURE RITUAL:

  • Honor your creative work

  • Ground your insights

  • Establish a pattern for continued writing

I speak at the beginning and end, and hold the space in the middle. On your end, this is all done in silence, to allow room free of outside input for the writing to steep and bubble up.

Participants don’t introduce themselves, talk aloud, share their writings, or use the Zoom “Chat” feature. This is so you can be fully with yourself — so you can bring all your attention to what’s inside you and write from there without distraction (even friendly distraction). This is a lot of what I mean by “shared solitude.”

Yet even writing in shared silence, your presence makes a difference to the other participants. A sense of being in this together builds.

Yet it would be a loss to write for three months and not get to share at least some of it — a loss for you and a loss for the other participants.

So — at the end of the 12 weeks — we celebrate you and your writing. You have the opportunity to (optionally) share aloud a choice bit of the writing you’ve done in the Sanctuary. This provides you with a valuable sense of completion, and offers a true gift to the other participants (if the enthusiastic response of participants in the last Co-Writing Sanctuary is any indication).

Sharing your writing (if you choose to) enables you to:

  • Come forth with and own what you’ve written — to, in effect exclaim, “Look at who I turned out to be!”

  • Experience deep pleasure in reading your writing selection aloud, in your own voice.

  • Recognize your writing as a gift — a light that illuminates your listeners.

  • Receive appreciative feedback and blessings of listeners’ responses (no critiques).

We do need to know that what we give our full selves to when writing will be meaningful to others — that we have communicated something of value in an intimate and relatable way.

This, too, brings light. Being able to be reflected well and clearly brings light to the author, and into the world.

My work is as a Book Developer & Creative Midwife, helping people who value the inner life write the book of their heart. I am the creator of the Writing from the Deeper Self approach.

With over 30 years’ professional experience in the publications field — as a writer, editor, consultant, and illustrator, working directly with publishers and authors — I bring industry expertise to my work with clients. I know how to turn a rough manuscript into a fully professional book.

But deeper than this, I also bring a deep healing orientation to the people whose writing dreams I get to midwife. My own healing journey has led me to studies in psychology, spirituality, and what it is within a person that can bring forth their healing.

The creative process has fascinated me since childhood. I was born into a family of writers, so bringing words to life has been with me all my life. I am grateful for being steeped in the magic of beautiful, meaningful writing. Yet something essential was missing: the encouragement to listen within. (Listened-forth writing is not the same as just getting the words out.) Now, I view listening as the very foundation of the Writing from the Deeper Self approach. As the Sufi master Sherif Baba once said in my hearing, “It is a beautiful thing to listen to yourself. When you listen to yourself, you write your own book.”

I am a writer, the author of several books on writing and the creative process — Starting Your Book: A Guide to Navigating the Blank Page by Attending to What’s Inside You, and An Organic Approach to Structuring Your Book: A Right-Brained Alternative to Outlines — as well as other subjects.

I’m also a visual artist and musician.

All three capacities help me to serve my clients and students, encouraging the artist in them to emerge (sometimes to their great surprise). Visual art can translate to writing evocative, vivid descriptions. Music can translate to writing with rhythm and tone. This esthetic allows the inner artist to come forth even in those who haven’t studied such matters.

Last but not least, a healing orientation undergirds all that I say, do, and offer in regard to the Co-Writing Sanctuary. I am ordained as a healer in the Universal Sufi tradition of Hazrat Inayat Khan.

About the Format:

Q: Do I need to attend every live session? A: While your regular attendance enhances the experience, you will receive recordings of all sessions. This allows you to maintain momentum even if you miss a live gathering.

Q: What if I'm not sure what I want to write about? A: Perfect! Many participants discover their writing direction through the sanctuary experience. The structured silence and guided attunement often reveal unexpected creative pathways.

Q: Is this like a writing workshop with critiques? A: No, this is distinctly different. The Sanctuary is a space for generation and discovery, not critique. While there's an optional sharing celebration at the end of the program, the weekly sessions are focused on creating, not reviewing or interpreting.

About the Process:

Q: How is this different from writing alone at home? A: The Sanctuary combines three powerful elements: (1) the power of silent space-holding, (2) group energy, and (3) structured sacred time. Many participants report accessing deeper levels of creativity than when writing alone.

Q: What if I get stuck during the writing time? A: The beauty of the Sanctuary is that it removes the pressure to "produce." You're welcome to sit in contemplation, jot notes, or simply stay present. Often, our most significant breakthroughs come through these moments of apparent "stuckness."

Q: Can I work on different projects each week? A: Absolutely! You can use the time for a single project or explore various writing directions. The space adapts to your creative needs.

Technical & Practical Matters:

Q: What technology do I need? A: You'll need:

  • A reliable internet connection

  • Zoom access

  • Your preferred writing tools (computer or pen/paper)

Q: What if I live in a different time zone? A: I offer the recordings-only option specifically for international participants or those who can't attend live sessions. The recordings carry the same sacred energy and can be used to create your own ritual writing time.

Q: Is there a payment plan available? A: Yes, for the live-participation option. If paying in full is stressful, you can pay in three monthly installments. There is also an Early Bird option, with significant bonuses.

Getting Started

Q: What happens after I register? A: You'll receive:

  • A welcome email with all necessary details

  • An invitation to schedule your personal meeting prior to the first Sanctuary session (live participation only)

  • Guidelines for creating your writing space

  • Early Bird registrants will receive the bonus Sacred Writing Kit in the mail (for live participants), or the downloadable Sacred Writing Tracker (for recordings-only participants).

Q: Can I join mid-series? A: Sorry, no. The consistency of attendance from the beginning is part of what creates the container. If you can’t begin at the beginning, buy the recordings instead.
