A Collection of Praises to Invite Your Interest
A NOTE FROM THE “AUTHOR” OF THIS SITE:
Displaying the praises of satisfied customers is expected in any business or service, and it’s a good idea — it’s a way of saying wonderful things about yourself and what you deliver, without actually saying them yourself. But because my work involves a level of intimate connection with clients — there is a preciousness and vulnerability inherent in showing up to write as you truly wish to — I do want to make it clear that I bring the best of myself to my (often sacred-feeling) work.
And so, in the quotes that follow, I offer these encomiums of praise to honor my clients as well as myself. I loved working with all these wonderful people (many of them first-time authors). If you find yourself sparked towards a heart’s-desire project of your own, contact me. This can become your story, too.
— Naomi Rose

"You can make anything by writing." — C. S. Lewis
“Naomi is an amazing writing coach. She started me on my path of writing from my depths ten years ago. I loved how she supported me to quickly claim my unique strengths as a writer. Naomi coached me through writing my very first e-course, ‘Collage for Self-Discovery,’ which is still alive and loved in the online market today.”
— Shelley Klammer, Shelley Klammer Counselling
“Naomi Rose is a great listener, as well as very skilled with drawing out people's latent creativity. She's extremely perceptive and encouraging with people who are wanting to write a book and need support. She helps writers get to the deeper places with their writing.”

“Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.” – M. Scott Peck
“This whole experience of working with you, and rejuvenating creativity within myself, I feel has brought me back to life. And part of it is the sheer gratitude that that part of me hasn’t gone away and is still accessible. When I’m writing, being in that flow and having the words come out of me is an experience like no other. Because you’re giving birth, and you don’t have to wait nine months, and it’s not painful. It’s a gratification.”
— Catherine Greene
“Sitting with you was like sitting with a seasoned spiritual director. Very present, very open to what I might say. Responding from the heart to my writings, which was very precious to me. For a person who is longing to be deeply heard, just sitting with you and seeing my spoken work impact you is a precious thing. You help me to see the transcendent aspect of my writing, so that it becomes an ‘of course’ to think of sharing it outside our meetings, perhaps to publish it.”
— Roberta Gannon, MFT, Spiritual Director
“Naomi is gifted with the ability to create time and space for her writing students to feel our experiences welling up from our roots, their own unique tides coursing through our bodies, and to meld them with the words that name them. Together, we can swim in the language like fish, as naturally as we were always meant to. She is also a startlingly gifted writer, whose inspired and deeply satisfying writing provides sustenance to the soul. They are the fire, air, and water of communication. Naomi will cherish you, and your work, as you begin to recognize the beauty and poignancy of your own stories.”

"If a story is in you, it has got to come out." — William Faulkner
"/ “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader." — Robert Frost /

“Supportive, kind. and wise, Naomi is an excellent guide and editor for developing your book and bringing it forth in beautiful shape. Highly recommended! She is so kind and supportive and gentle and appreciative, yet perceptive of the places where my book needed improvement, from commas to emotional nuances. I worked with her over many years to revise, edit, and polish my trilogy — and always felt gracefully received and held through this 'book birthing' process. Her faith in my book has been and is still very important to me in keeping my inner critic at bay. She has inspired me to honor what I have written by doing the work necessary to bring it into the coherent and beautiful form it deserves.”
— Rahima Warren, MFT; author, The Star-Seer’s Prophecy
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” – Rumi
"When I began this process, my deepest yearnings were twofold: one, that the words expressed would be a true expression of my soul; and two, that in the process of writing I would find and deepen my relationship with my creativity, and myself. Naomi has been a precious guide in both respects. She has provided unwavering support, profound mirroring, and has gently guided and encouraged me to write from the place of my true and authentic self. In the process, I have come into relationship with my deepest creative self, after a lifetime of longing and disconnection from it. This gift beyond measure, I attribute to Naomi’s soulful, loving, supportive, and wise guidance.
“Her intellectual capacity is also profound: she understands and helps me give voice to complex intellectual and conceptual concepts, as well as deeply personal and spiritual ones. She is a truly gifted teacher and guide. Anyone who has the pleasure of working with Naomi will encounter the joy of discovering many hidden gifts and treasures in their work and, perhaps more importantly, in themselves."
— Carolyn Shoshana Fershtman, PhD, author of a book on intergenerational Jewish healing
“Working with Naomi has been a total delight. Not only is she able to deeply listen to me and fully grasp my ideas and intentions but she is also wonderfully talented at helping me clarify and plan out the structure and scope of my book. Her understanding and support of me combines with her own great insight and makes her an outstanding and inspiring midwife for creative process.”
— Kathy Carlson, MA, Ph.D., MFT; author, The Flame at the Tip of the Candle
"Naomi encouraged me to do the joyful thing, instead of the things I think I should do. This was very affirming. And I felt heard, in a very strong initial way. It's different from trying to write on my own, because it feels like what I'm doing is being done in relationship."
— Shirley R. McGinnis, author, Sometimes Love Is Enough
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
From the moment I read Naomi’s newsletter, I knew she would understand what I was feeling but couldn’t quite articulate —namely that my writing felt like it was coming too much from the ‘intellect’ and not enough from the deeper Self. Her description of the distilling process resonated with my feeling that a lot of the heavier head-stuff needed to fall to the bottom, so the words of the heart could rise to the top. Naomi provided me with a sense of being understood, helped me clarify what I wanted to convey, and organized the material so that it began to have more structural integrity. Her comments and suggestions reflected my intentions, and her questions inspired me to go deeper.
“She shared with me a feeling of deep appreciation of my work, both the content and those passages where her ‘breath was taken away.’ That some of my writing touched her so deeply gave me sense of confidence to trust my heart to speak its truth."
— Shelle Goldstein, LCSW, PA, author, Blossoming Beyond the Desert
“Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.” — E. L. Doctorow
“I just wanted to thank you for your help in the early part of my book development. You really helped me to listen more deeply for my soul’s calling in what I was writing, to share more of my experiences and heart. I thought you would enjoy knowing that the book finally got birthed into the world. I am getting really, really good feedback on it so far. Thanks for your wonderful work with authors like me.”
— Deborah Welch, PhD, author, Forgiveness at Work
"Unconditional positive regard and presence are two qualities that every good therapist aspires to. When achieved, the counselor becomes a healer. What a delightful surprise to find that Naomi Rose excels in these attributes. Through being deeply listened to, I am starting to hear myself. Because of that, my relationship to writing has shifted to a level that will grow beyond the book project and inform the rest of my life. The book has become a bonus, and I am grateful.”
— Clare Goodwin, Psychosynthesis Therapist; author, Gifts of the Mandala: A Guided Journey of Self-Discovery
“Self-care is never a selfish act — it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.” — Parker Palmer
“Working with Naomi was like having someone who is for you, who keeps seeing you and accepting you. She helped me find the true Story beneath the story I’d been telling myself. But first, I had to find my heart. Naomi’s role in this was divine. Her gift was to help me further wed my life to my art, and in the process, to heal both. This is what I mean when I say I couldn’t have written the book without Naomi. She is truly my fairy godmother of writing.”
— Katayoon Zandvakili, author, My Beautiful Impostor: A Story of Persia, Exile, and Faith
“You add a tremendous amount of value. There’s no way I could do this on my own. I am so impressed by how much you can write, it humbles me. Writing with your guidance is like working out: if you keep doing it, it gets easier.”
— George Troy, Author, The Five Laws of Retail
“Naomi has had a profound effect on my life by helping me not only create something I’d only dreamed of, but also realize the importance of fulfilling and honoring such a calling. To work with her is to experience acceptance, wonder, respect, honor, encouragement, guidance, and complete attention — in essence, the precious and rare gift of love. Love for the potential, beauty, and spirit that is inside me, and all of us. In such a presence, those things within naturally flower into a unique, yet universal, offering of a book. Writing this book has become a journey of discovery in the deepest way.”
— Thuy Nguyen, L.Ac., founder, Berkeley Community Acupuncture
“For a year and a half and three hundred pages later, Naomi has been my gifted guide. A great boat woman, she takes her seat quietly at the helm, and listens in a way that always inspires what is waiting to be known, said, and written to come forth. Practically skillful and mindfully soulful, she is helpful at every turn and around all the stops and stages in the process of book making. But mostly, she is the best kind of friend, and that’s really what it takes.”
— Prema Nihan, author, River’s Grace: Navigating the Sacred and Mundane in Motherhood
“When I decided to dive into all the notes I had collected and really turn my outline into a book, Naomi Rose was an invaluable partner on the journey. She understood what I wanted to say, and made sure that my thoughts flowed smoothly. Her grasp of the book extended from the overall vision down to the details, and even in small ways—by completing a phrase or rearranging a sentence or paragraph here and there—she created an appealing whole out of the many ideas I had to share. Her insights and her gift for understanding my message raised my confidence so much. She shared my vision, and was genuinely excited about getting this book out into the world. The book is now changing lives, and finding its way into homes and hearts around the world. She offered the support I needed to create the book that I dared to dream was possible!”
— Barbara Hanneloré, author, The Moon and You: A Woman’s Guide to an Easier Monthly Cycle /Finalist, Indie Excellence Book Awards; Silver Award, Living Now Book Awards
“Naomi provided the warm and inviting space that I needed to speak about my work and listen to the words as they emerged from within. She listened to my words before they were even shaped. She was fascinated with my ideas as I shared them with her, and this receptivity validated what I was wanting to write. She showed me how to write from my deeper Self. It always surprises me when I receive a call from someone who has said they have read my book and want to work with me. This is what pleases me the most. Without the book, I could not have reached the number of people who are now able to learn about Essential Speaking. Naomi, thank you for listening to the heart of this book. It was inside me, and you welcomed it into being. Giving birth to books that heal is certainly your calling."
— Doreen Hamilton, PhD; author, Essential Speaking: The 7-Step Guide to Finding Your Real Voice
"I have felt very seen by you, and that is so much what therapy is about. We all yearn for that."
— Jenaii Gold, MFT; author, The Moon, the Hare, and the Pearl: An Intuitive Guide to Psychotherapy
“A book is made from a tree. It is an assemblage of flat, flexible parts (still called ‘leaves’) imprinted with dark pigmented squiggles. One glance at it and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, the author is speaking, clearly and silently, inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people, citizens of distant epochs, who never knew one another. Books break the shackles of time — proof that humans can work magic." ― Carl Sagan

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH NAOMI ROSE AS A CREATIVE MIDWIFE
“When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.” – Jean Shinoda Bolen / “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” — Howard Thurman
"Naomi Rose is a rare gem. She is intuitive, insightful, and genuinely caring. I was working on a presentation that was very important to me, and was having trouble organizing my thoughts. With Naomi's guidance I was able to get unstuck, clarify my vision, and gain the confidence I needed to move forward. I'm grateful for her help and highly recommend her."
— Alison Gill, developer of a social-benefit program to help house the homeless
“You are indeed the creative midwife, Naomi, and you have a unique way of always inspiring those with whom you come into contact — every time! Writing is a lonely venture, with few mentors willing to urge you on. I am immensely grateful for the time that you've so generously gifted me with, and I'll cherish that forever."
— Olga Lopes, writer
"Naomi sat me down and nurtured out of me ideas I didn't even know I had in me. Her technique was very simple and extremely effective. Like a counselor, she asked probing questions, which elicited deep responses from me, and these she wrote down verbatim, touch-typing on her laptop with the lid down, and not breaking her stride listening to me empathetically and wholeheartedly. What I admire most about Naomi's approach was being able to deal with the unpredictability and uncertain nature of what was to be discussed. I came to her as an open book and she read it, guiding rather than driving the direction of the conversation.
“It was a very rejuvenating experience to be heard in that way. She understood, as did I for the first time, that my personal conclusion was the thing worth sharing. She was able to show me what was in me, but that to which I'd never give words or any expression whatsoever. Her passion is to help people bring forth their inner treasures in some form. Her fascination is with the entire creative process. Naomi Rose is a true artist in every sense of the word; a consummate professional, a skilled writer and editor, and a birther of creativity in those whose lives she touches."
— Zoe Larkin, photographer and writer
"Naomi Rose is a true gift to anyone wishing to bring a creative idea or project into form. A developmental work session with Naomi becomes more than the sum of its parts. Our collaborations inspire me to remain in alignment with not only myself but also my purpose — and to meet my goals. She has the innate ability to coax out, in the most gentle and supportive way, that which wants to grow. She assists in unearthing buried creative seeds and nurtures growth so that a living, thriving form emerges — a tangible idea, a new business direction, a workable book outline, a written piece, or a new creative work. Whether our session's focus is on developing my writing or growing my business, Naomi's non-linear approach to creating births tangible outcomes. With Naomi as my 'creative developer,' I feel well cared-for and well heard — and inspired to bring my many gifts and products into the world."
— Dana Watt, personal chef and food writer, The Golden Beet

“Naomi’s quest is to pull out of her protégé the inner core of truth that lurks there, always elusive, but a many-splendored jewel once found. I cannot imagine another editor on the planet who could step into my shoes and edit esoteric material as beautifully and sincerely as Naomi did. She has been utterly exceptional.”
— Rebecca Field, author, To Choose the Fire of the Cosmos. Foreword by H. H. The Dalai Lama
“I owe the present edition of my book to Naomi Rose, to whom I am indebted. An experienced editor and writing coach helping people find their own depth through self-expression, I trusted that she would be the right person to revise my manuscript. She was moved by its content and not only was grateful for the opportunity to read it but also expressed the wish that she might be of further help in its becoming known to the English-speaking public [through publication]. I like the idea of having my book produced with such maternal care and deep appreciation.”
— Claudio Naranjo, MD, author, Healing Civilization
"Naomi has been a wonderful editor and supporter for me. She pays attention not only to the nitty-gritty like punctuation, word choice, sentence structure, etc., but also to the nuances of meaning and the flow of the writing. She really listens to whether the writing is connecting with the reader, and for the places where there’s disconnection. Her support and kindness and wisdom have been worth every penny!"
— Rahima Warren, MFT; author, The Star-Seer’s Prophecy
“Naomi took my manuscript and turned it into a book. I can't thank her enough!”
— Larry Decker, PhD, author, The Alchemy of Combat: Transforming Trauma in Combat Veterans
"If you ever need an expert second opinion and a gentle hand to help you with your manuscript, I highly recommend Naomi Rose. The scope of our work together was to have her give me an overview of what she thought of my second novel, The Spirit Bundle. She pointed out possible chapter reconstructions, the need for embedding character or scene descriptions earlier in the book, general syntax corrections, and much more. Those kinds of improvement strategies might have threatened some authors. Naomi presented each observation with supreme respect for my creative process and my author’s sensitivity to correction. Most everything she offered me has profoundly increased the quality of my tale. I am profoundly grateful for her knowledge and her caring for this project.”

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH NAOMI ROSE AS A SELF-PUBLISHING MENTOR
“At heart, self-publishing is kind of like a bake sale. The end product does not need to resemble the one that comes from a commercial bakery, but it must taste good. No one wants the lumpy, under-baked oatmeal cookies with spinach and alfalfa flavored chips.”
— D. C. Williams / “Writing a book makes you an expert in the field. At the very least, when you hand someone a book you wrote, it’s more impressive than handing a business card.” — James Altucher / “Sometimes wandering the indirect path is exactly what’s required to get where we need to go.” — S. K. Quinn
"If you've spent years crafting a book that you know is good but cannot find a publisher to take it, consider self-publishing with the help of consultant Naomi Rose. It was my good fortune to find her. She knows the process of going from manuscript to appearing as a book on Amazon. There are many steps along the way, some easy, some daunting. I would have been lost in the world of ISBN numbers, BISAC codes, and print-on-demand variations if I hadn't been able to ask Naomi for help. She scripted the A to Z process and asked me which ones I'd like to do and which ones would be best to complete. She was not simply a consultant: she was a coach, mentor, and avid supporter for my book. She was there for me every step of the way. I wish for every self-publishing author to find a consultant as competent and kind as Naomi is. She is stellar.”
— Cindy Spring, author, The Wave and The Drop: Wisdom Stories about Death and Afterlife
"I can tell you really know what you are doing. I'm smart enough to hang out with experts."
— Flo Oy Wong, author, Dreaming of Glistening Pomelos
“"Thank you for all your attention to detail, your detailed thinking. I have confidence in you, your esthetic and design. Thank you for all your efforts, your enthusiasm, and your hard work throughout the publishing process."
